PDFzy ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- PDF Files: PDFs you import, create, scan, or edit are stored locally on your device only. We do not upload your files to any server.
- Folder & File Names: The names you assign to your folders and PDFs. Stored locally on your device.
- AI Chat Messages: Questions you ask the PDFzy AI assistant and the text context from the PDF you are discussing are sent to OpenAI for processing. Your PDF files themselves are never uploaded.
- Language Preferences: Your selected app language.
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Camera Data: We access your camera solely when you use the document scanner. Camera frames are processed in real-time on your device via Apple's VisionKit and are never transmitted, stored, or uploaded to any server.
- OCR Text: Text recognized from scanned documents is processed locally using Apple's Vision framework. This text is not sent to external servers.
- Analytics Data: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data such as app opens, tool usage, and crash reports. This data does not identify you personally.
- Advertising Data: We use Google AdMob to display ads. AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.
1.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal contact information.
- We do not store the contents of your PDFs on any server.
- We do not collect location data.
- We do not store photos or images from your camera.
- We do not require an account or login.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To process PDFs locally on your device (merge, split, compress, convert, sign, and more).
- To provide the PDFzy AI chat assistant via OpenAI's API.
- To extract searchable text from scanned documents using on-device OCR.
- To display relevant advertisements (for free users).
- To analyze app usage and improve our services through anonymous analytics.
- To identify and fix crashes and bugs through crash reporting.
3. Data Storage & Security
All PDF files, folders, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's file system. We do not operate servers that store your personal data or documents.
Private folders can be secured with Face ID / Touch ID biometric authentication. Your subscription status is managed securely through Apple's StoreKit framework and Apple's servers.
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect any data processed by the app.
4. Third-Party Services
PDFzy uses the following third-party services:
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google) - Anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting. Firebase Privacy

- OpenAI API - Powers the PDFzy AI chat feature. OpenAI Privacy
- Apple StoreKit - In-app purchase and subscription management.
5. Advertising & Tracking
PDFzy displays ads to free users through Google AdMob. We request your consent via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before enabling personalized ads.
If you opt out of tracking, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized to your interests.
Premium subscribers do not see any advertisements.
6. Children's Privacy
PDFzy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: All your data is stored locally on your device. You can view it within the app.
- Delete your data: You can delete PDFs and folders within the app, or uninstall the app to remove all local data.
- Opt out of tracking: You can disable ad tracking through iOS Settings > Privacy > Tracking.
- Opt out of analytics: You can disable analytics by limiting ad tracking in iOS Settings.
8. Data Retention
Local data is retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. Anonymous analytics data is retained by Firebase according to Google's data retention policies (typically 14 months).
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
